johnt - Good point. This is a great thread. It's been pretty much established that sweat itself doesn't smell, but the bacteria does.

Would a bad diet equal foul odor bacteria? I wonder.

I sweat way too much, I have to use prescription drysol, and even it doesn't work 100%. I tried magnesium oil and crystal deodorant but didn't help, I often have to change my shirt several times per day.

I thought I posted this already but maybe not. I am experimenting with coconut oil as a deodorant as it has strong anti-bacterial properties, and as a bonus it's good for skin. I did a smell test today and I could smell myself slightly.

Johnt, Where did you find info on 2 different types of sweat and the degree of odor?

I use arm and hammer unscented deodorant.

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10447827#ProductDetail

it actually has a scent from germanium. germanium exceeds beyond all that i know of in neutralizing the stink from perspiration. a little goes a very long way. i also use it on my shorts, and it extends their life significantly. it is antibacterial and will burn if applied undiluted. if you use too much, you will smell like a bouquet of flowers.

Is that one antiperspirant or just an odor stick?

Are there any other good natural antiperspirants? I've tried everything, nothing works.

j87x - I also sweat a very large amount compared to normal people and admit those other options make work for "normal" sweaters but I wouldn't personally go off my drysol equivalent because I doubt they would work as effectively.

I have also been using this for at least 6-8 months now. It works great on me, but only lasts about 3/4 day on my wife. Good stuff IMO.
