Hey guys im so confused as to what is my next step weeding what is causing my hair to extremely shed. I thought it could be the bcm -95/reveratrol but because my feels great whenever im on it i dont think this combination is the culprit. Im going to start weeding out what i use beginning with the NOW Maca capsule(3grams daily). I also have taking Toco-8 and i read in the post above that it also causes testosterone levels to raise. So im thinking myself that Maca plus toco-8 is too much testoterone in my body so im cutting MACA and see what happens. IH what is your take on this?

youngbalder - Testosteone increase is a good thing--really. Testosterone lowers blood sugar (keeps insulin levels lower). Tocotrienol's inhibit 5-alpha reductase. Improvement in erections could be improved antioxidant status.

It takes a fair number of months to know what is going on in a regimen. How long have you been on your current line-up?

CS--

Convinced in everything you say about testosterone, and quite sure BCM delivers. I had some great days. Not sure if it is ideal for androgen induced baldness.

That said, with the PM topical i am hoping to have the best of both worlds.

Youngbalder, I doubt toco-8 is much to worry about.

On my mobile so this will be brief. My experience with maca was not good...strongest hairline in year started noticably receding with a month of starting.
I think maca is good for most folk but not for all...so you may want to try dropping that.

youngbalder - It doesn't seem very likely, but if you use vitamin C opt for a variety that is not just plain ascorbic acid. Ascorbyl palmitate with bioflavonoids or mixed forms with bioflavonoids would be much healthier.

From Wikipedia side effects of Circumin:

"Potential risks and side-effects
Kawanishi et al. (2005) remarked that curcumin, like many antioxidants, can be a "double-edged sword" where in the test tube, anti-cancer and antioxidant effects may be seen in addition to pro-oxidant effects.[33] Carcinogenic effects are inferred from interference with the p53 tumor suppressor pathway, an important factor in human colon cancer.[34] Carcinogenic and LD50 tests in mice and rats, however, have failed to establish a relationship between tumorogenesis and administration of curcumin in turmeric oleoresin at >98% concentrations.[35]

In animal studies, hair loss (alopecia) and lowering of blood pressure have been reported.[36]

Clinical studies in humans with high doses (2–12 grams) of curcumin have shown few side effects, with some subjects reporting mild nausea or diarrhea.[37] More recently, curcumin was found to alter iron metabolism by chelating iron and suppressing the protein hepcidin, potentially causing iron deficiency in susceptible patients.[38]"

I started shedding as well when I used circumin last year as an anti-inflammatory for arthritis. I then switched to Holy Basil. I think Ayurvedic literature also notes Circumin increases hairloss. Maybe temporary, but nonetheless, never heard of anyone sticking with it alone to regrowth stage.

The Natural- When you first started using curcumin/resveratrol combo, in the first 2-3 months were shedding or not really?

The theory about the "double-edged sword" of natural antioxidants is an outdated notion. While it's true, the pro-oxidative quality is usually a mechanism to initiate cell death (apoptosis) of a cell that has had it's natural self-destruct mechanism turned off, such as in cancer. A pro-oxidative state is the body's way of fighting pathogens.
