How do you take your Brewer's Yeast?

Post  NYJets on Mon Mar 16, 2015 7:58 pm

Just curious because it causes a gag reflex for me.

It seems to lift my morning grogginess and bad moods, a pity I can't take it. I tried adding to shakes and what not and it just clumps....

This is the one I have on hand. Maybe it's time to try another brand?

PS all of the ones I tried so far are worse than this one.

I put it in raw milk, along with some mineral salt and honey to impair the perfect tasting substance otherwise. The dosage makes it taste worse, but it's manageable if you put a table spoon in a 0,5l. Alternative is to put it in capsules and avoid the taste completely.

Thx Bee. Does your dissolve in the milk or remain clumpy?

I just mix a table spoon into a glass of tap water. When I first began taking it last year it would make me noxious and I would have to add sweeteners, and even then It would not always stay down. Then tried Nutritional yeast and found it to be worse. However, now I can barley notice the taste of the Brewers yeast anymore. So I suppose the lessen is to find something that tastes even worse, then return to it.

If you wish to dissolve it you better start adding it with multi steps. Once the film is produced it's a hell to get it of a shaker bottle, whatever. The same for spirulina or everything potentially clumpy.

This product was out of stock for months, everywhere! I'll order it up. Reviews indicate best tasting.

Capsules, not a bad idea. Seems tedious though!! I might get distracted bounce

Only problem with capsules, is they can come back up...placing all that powder in your mouth; should you accidentally chew them.

I usually mix it with water and stevia. I think most of these yeasts are not true brewer's yeast but are actually nutritional yeast. The taste varies from brand to brand. Puritan's Pride tastes good and I add it plain yogurt. The Twinlabs tastes bitter to me. I'm told Now brand is very bitter. I wonder if bad taste equals better nutrition and good taste means less nutrition.
