I agree.
Just curious as see Ray kurzweil takes a lot of supplements, and I started thinking...is longevity anti-natural?

Just curious really.

CS would be interested in your take on it?

It's not insane thought to consider it as a real option (at least for some) to extend their lifespans beyond what's ordinary. I am talking 150-170 years old before damage breaks down. The aging is tackled from many different angles, and each has some useful insights. Since life is not fully explained we should rely on ''body, who figures it out, given it has a chance'' and continue to help by a distance.  Stem cells are also on way out (of the labs). I dont think humanity is ready to extend the life to what's possible, but i am sure many will be part of very good care. And already are. It's this enough to live forever? Not really, to think that way, one should be really optimistic about the humanity in general and future advances and breakthroughs that require critical mass of healthy and happy people. It's a real challenge.

About thinking what's natural and what's not. Culture already destroyed many of ''natural'' concepts, and we continue to do so. Shitting in the toiled, wearing a condom, vaccinating, playing video games, or talking to circus manager by phone while driving an airplane... No reason why it would not be useful if the perspective to it is changed. The rules and values we live by, were being set by humans, not so far ago. They are already ridiculous if you think about it. I give my vote to this enhancement of possibilities anytime. Being sick is where wish to not live (forever) comes in the first place. Problem being, it's hard to trade time and money to find ways to be healthy to most of the planet. Worse, mind virus is obtained really early, and no much people go beyond the point when they can think such privileged thoughts as being healthy is hard work, but optional and worth-like behavior...

How about living forever?

In the book Conversations With God by Neale Donald Walsch, "God" says our bodies are designed to do just that.
We are the ones who came up with aging/death...

That said, most of us are going to die, it's really up to our soul re when we transition...and death is not the end...

This is the thing.
I'm talking about the physical as we see it.
I don't understand the need to live physically forever?
I can't figure out a life without suffering. We need duality.

The idea of implanting devices in our bodies to erase things like our
Bodies getting too warm or cold. Is that not against the flow of nature?
Or removing hunger?

I'm not someone who believes nature is something that gives us what we
Need/want without us having to work with it.
Working with nature is the way to go for me personally. Ie. Respect

This may sound quite dark, but I think in order to live, you have to suffer.

In meeting suffering, we ultimately learn how to transcend it (and move beyond duality).
Non-attachment is the key.

No, we don't "need" to live physically forever. But it is not impossible. In any case, life goes on whether we are in or out of body.

Re those things you mention like implanting devices etc.
We already use heaters, build fires etc. to keep out the cold, for example. "Natural" is relative...

Yeah I get that we use fires, but they're 'outside' .and reactive.

I'm talking about a self-regulating body-machine that doesn't
need to react, because it always stays at optimal temperature.

Again with suffering, i agree we can go beyond a lot of it with an understanding
of it and that all necessary suffering isn't a bad or evil.

By this im talking about hungry, bored, tired...

Transhumanists I think are aiming for immortality by uploading
ones mind to a computer to be uploaded back into a synthetic body.

The new designer body is then essentially is free of 'physical' suffering
disease, fatigue, hunger, need to excrete... in essence a synthetic-superman.

In my opinion right now, I think in erasing suffering you essentially wipe out
the human race for a new kind of species... like post-humans or something.

I've learnt to see suffering as a gift in a way.
in life we have to make effort.
we have to encounter pain.
and then eventually we have to die.

(for whatever reason who knows, but when you embrace these truths
it encourages responsibility for ones self)

my point is, how do these ideas fit with longevity, I see one of
the leaders in the transhuman field takes over 100 supplements a day.

Yeah, I don't vibe with that approach, either. They are trying too hard. It sounds like they are coming from fear more than anything else.

I think paradoxically, if you are really excited about living longer or forever, you also need to be at peace with death. I think I am. I had a dream
where I died...it was just like going from one room to another.

do you believe that there was ancient people live for 900 years??
by that time population is too low ,may be few thousand may be few hundred thousand so they need to live longer in order to save their kind (us) .
but look now ..how much we are on this planet? ...so for me age limitation is just used to control our population so the life on this planet will be possible.
