Can someone explain something to me about the adaptogen Rhodiola? Any science minded fellows, CS, etc..

Post  sizzlinghairs on Sat Apr 16, 2016 2:22 pm

Hey guys, I take rhodiola rosea almost daily as it helps significantly with my mood etc. Been doing so for years. I recently came across this on the net and got me a little concerned. Does inhibiting this enzyme mean it's damaging the liver? I'm just confused about the exact implications besides the fact it could possibly raise blood levels of certain drugs/interactive substances..

"Rhodiola may interfere with the way the body processes certain drugs using the liver's "cytochrome P450" enzyme system. As a result, the levels of these drugs may be increased in the blood, and may cause increased effects or potentially serious adverse reactions. Patients using any medications should check the package insert, and speak with a qualified healthcare professional, including a pharmacist, about possible interactions."

Any feedback greatly appreciated! I don't wanna have to give up rhodiola Sad

I read Ashwagandha boosts your energy, and Rhodiola calms you, or maybe it's the other way around...Either way they are both adaptogenic herbs.

Someone even suggested to take one in the morning for energy and the other at night for the calming effect.
