Acetyl-L-Carnitine -Does it increase Androgen receptors??

Post  speeds on Fri Nov 11, 2016 9:19 am

HI

I've added A-L-C to my regimen and incorporate quite a few of Immortal Hairs regimen but after adding ACL and nettles for about 3 months now my hair is just tanking especially the front temple area. I've been reading on Muscle forums etc that ACL can increase androgen receptors and activity, would this not be bad for hair loss as it's adding to the problem??

Thanks in advance.

Carnitine is one of the ingredients in the hair loss supplement "TRX2", along with a few others like potassium citrate, niacin, and something else, so I doubt it would be bad for hair.

Also I think carnitine has other health benefits, so overall it's probably good.

I've been using it for 12 years non-stop. However, please bear in mind that it is strongly suggested to take it along with lipoic acid.

The reason is that while ALC does increase ATP and cardiolipin, it also generates free-radicals. So lipoic acid will counter that and also improve the mitochondrial transport chain.

Hey CS, what if one is already taking vitamin C? Just curious

Lipoic acid helps "recycle" or allow vitamin C to continue working for longer. Vitamin C is no where as potent as lipoic acid. However, not a bad idea to use both.
