Bile Salt Malabsortion? any advice?

Post  PolandSpring on Mon Jan 16, 2017 6:27 am

Hey guys, long time no see...

I'm the resident Crohn's disease guy, and after a period of good times and relative digestive comfort, I'm back with more (new!) problems. YAY!

I've had more loose stool over the past month than I have in my entire life combined. It's 5-10 times a day, it's yellow and fluffy, and it's resulted in one of the worst stretches of my life. It's nearly crippling, but I fight and I research and I continue moving forward, etc.

This has always been my go-to for natural help. I stopped going to doctors some years ago, and am currently off all medication. I take a lot of glutamine powder, EC, CBD oil, and that's about it.

Through the constant symptom googling, I think I might be dealing with something called bile salt malabsorbtion. My stool right now is very soft, bright yellow, and I get that feeling of having to go as soon as I start eating. When I don't eat, no problem, when I eat and drink, all hell breaks loose. I've had these stools off and on for a long time, but recently it seems very consistent no matter what I do with my diet. I've seemed to have hit a bit of a roadblock in my research on how to correct this problem, if it is my problem, and have come to the geniuses here for help.

Thanks guys, as always.

You might want to research veganism.
Dr. Michael Greger has done a lot of research into bile.

A low fat diet will help you.

It's not so much veganism (not recommended) that will help (a universal diet approach is a disaster). This is not opinion, but based on hundreds of thousands of blood chemistry tests.  Diet is individual. Now with that out of the way.

Grains are the things to avoid, then go from there.

The answer to your question probably involves endoplasmic reticulum, which is often implicated in crohn's disease.
