Increasing Lactate - Scientists discover new way to activate dormant follicles.

"Our observations prompted us to examine whether genetically diminishing the entry of pyruvate into the mitochondria would force hair follicle stem cells to make more lactate, and if that would activate the cells and grow hair more quickly."

Here's the abstract of that study

Unfortunately, the drug cartel as per usual always focuses on the drug route to solve problems that are away from the real cause(s)

Safety issues in hair loss related drugs usually are the reason very few drugs ever surface beyond clinical trials.

I wonder what potential problems maybe caused to the mitochondria. Maybe it's a little ironic that purposefully creating a lower yield in mitochondrial function could also cause hair loss.

For example, altering the mitochondria may related to high intracellular penetration of Ca(2+).

This could be a source of free radicals, and deficient oxidative phosphorylation, reducing energy.

Also provoking an altered state of the mitochondria can result in lower activity of superoxide dismutase, activation of cytochrome c oxidase. That's not exactly pro-hair.

The resulting effect of this would increase the yield of Nitric oxide (NO) along with higher levels of lactate and pyruvate.

CS, what is your current opinion on EMF damage, that induces Ca++ ions to leak into the cell in a massive amounts. Mechanism is via voltage gated calcium channels, but effect is really significant, and dose depended. JDP posted about it years ago...

Do you think taking larger dosages of K2, Magnesium, is protective enough? I wonder also if lipo EDTA would have such benefit as well. I think melatonin takes care of such stress, but with a downside of being not effective if is non liposomal (hardly bypasses BBB)....
Thanks.
