enzymes and face peels

Post  thelibrarian on Sun Nov 22, 2009 2:35 am

I am continuing to use bromelain on my scalp. I have uped the treatment time to 30 minutes every other day.. It seems to be doing wonders for my scalp inflammation. When I look through my microscope my scalp is a healthy white and the redness around the follicles is gettiing smaller in diameter and less red - more a mild pink now.

I decided to experiment with the enzymes last night and put the remainder of the mix on my face and Ileft it over night. What would be the harm, right? A big mistake. I woke up today with a beet red face. Tons of emu oil and silica gel took the edge of it, but it was completely noticeable.

The skin feels like it is sunburned. It also is as smooth as silk! It is also beet red again I think it is fair to call this inflammation. Those of you who are leaving enzymes on overnight- well, no wonder you are shedding!

I am sticking to 30 minute sessions from now on! I am also definitely going to be including my face. Seriously, it is as smooth as a baby's bum right now. A very very red baby's bum! haha

I've been using pascalite clay with papain/bromelain every other day overnight and I've noticed the same thing on my forehead, sans the redness. I don't know if the clay (hydrated with 1 part ACV / 1 part aloe, with green tea extract, GFSC, and jojoba oil) is whats keeping me from getting really irritated, or if it's just because my scalp is crunchy and my upper forehead is oily, but I can leave the mix in for 12+ hours (last night into this morning) without any adverse effects. This morning, my forehead was so smooth that I thought it was slick oily, but it was bone dry. I wonder what it would do for some minor scarring next to my left ear.

Also, having used just papain for about two weeks prior, I can say that the papain/bromelain combo seems to soften things up better than papain alone.
