weird round "balls" in hair/scalp
I've just begun to notice these very small hard "balls" of some unidentifiable substance in my hair if I don't wash it for 2 days.
I recently cut my hair down to 1/8" to do a magnification study of my scalp and since then when I rub my hand over my scalp I can feel these things on my scalp, and if I get them out, the seem to bring a miniaturized hair along with them (from all over the scalp, front, back, "donor" areas..all over). I have no visible thinning except for the NW1 -> NW2 progression pattern, which is what I am trying to maintain.
Any ideas on what they could be? I tried to take a picture, but it came out pretty ratty as they are so small. I was thinking it could be hardened sebum or something? Normally I clay/wash/laser every 2 days (or 3x/week) and it isn't an issue after doing that. Its not dandruff cause they aren't flakes...if I put them on a solid surface I can crush them and they turn to power-ish. Sorry for the gross descriptions, just looking to see what they are. The only topicals I use are clay (scalpure) and pure emu oil.

It's sebum. Google sebum and Hair loss and you'll get as much information as you need. You should wash your hair daily.

Thanks for the info. Is there any particular shampoo I should use (for oily scalp or something?), currently I use Niz 2x/week and I have some Lamas shampoo as well.
Also, does this have anything to do with my leaving the Emu oil overnight? Should I wash it out after a certain period of time, say an hour or so? I had read that Emu oil was similar to sebum and would actually "unclog" the clogged pores. To be fair, I only started the Emu oil last Saturday but put it on 2x/day (temples AM, whole head PM).
