Some questions about testosterone control (+lignans) and DHT/5ar control (+beta-sitosterol!)
hey hey peoples
Basically as usual my head has been brimming with thoughts and grand plans to rescue my hair, and I just ended up with a few answered questions...
Basically, like I said I suspect poor diet and stress to have contributed to my male pattern hair loss ._.
Am I right in saying that both of these factors could have affected my testosterone levels? It seems like stress and overworking the liver with bad food both decrease SHBG and so increase T. I'm not sure if they affect the glands as well such as actually increasing initial T production... I hope not ._.
Anyway, I was basically thinking about the best ways to dampen my T and DHT levels as well as going on some or all of the top 6 IH regimen, but yeah, these were my questions..
First of all... I am currently taking lignans for my T levels and beta-sitosterol for my DHT levels. Am I right in saying these are 2 of the best things to have an effect on these things respectively? I know that lignans increase SHBG, but yeah I still wasn't totally sure how good a T balancer they were!
As for beta-sitosterol, I was concerned about it increasing sebum. Couldn't this potentially make matters worse? I was possibly considering going on a very mild Fin dose (say 0.25mg every couple of days) instead... as I was concerned about the oilier skin and hair that beta-sitosterol seems to create resulting in an even harder time for my follicles.
Sorry to pester again, I have just learnt that the best tactic is in a very thought through and precise regimen, and so I wanted to know I wasn't making a mistake!
Thank you guys
Hoppi!

Hoppipolla - When it comes to many supplements, especially those that affect hormones, flora and DHT levels, there is no absolute expectation.
One person who takes lignans will not get the same response as another. The same goes with saw palmetto and beta-sitosterol.
Lignans take a while to determine their effect, because it is dependent on your intestinal microflora.
Stress takes some toll, since the more cortisol secreted the will unduly affect insulin levels. Stress activates neuropeptide/endocannabinoid system also, an entirely different pathway also, causing neurogenic inflammation.

Re: Some questions about testosterone control (+lignans) and DHT/5ar control (+beta-sitosterol!)
ah wow, yeah that really sucks ._.
I'm hoping that like you said curcumin and resveratrol (hopefully combined with a reduction in my stress levels) might help to ease that side of things
Also since I've been eating better I'm sure my insulin level has tumbled!
I'm feeling much more confident at the moment and just feeling my way along!

Oh, and should I consider in some way tackling my cortisol levels? I have been concerned about them before... hmm. I guess if I am just eating better and stuff they should probably ease up anyway
