Need help stopping the shed!
Hi Guys,
My first post here
I need some assistance, I am M 28.
I Still have hair but its becoming thinner... I think its due to the fact that I shed like crazy all the time... and every time I wash my hair or brush it.. it falls...
Can anyone recommend something? I tried both fin / minox but that gave me side effects....
I'd like to stop the shedding at least...and than go from there...
Thanks!

Re: Need help stopping the shed!
heh, tell me about it man, this is my current goal too!
If you are having Fin sides then there are a few options for you
a) drop your Fin dosage a bit (0.5, 0.25, perhaps even alternate days) and/or use something like Nizoral.
b) go on the IH regimen
c) Put together a regimen like I've been trying, it's in my thread: http://immortalhair.forumandco.com/natural-hair-regrowth-f1/hoppi-s-super-duper-unique-new-approach-to-tackling-hair-loss-making-regimens-_-t2958.htm
erm.. oh, or you could go for an entirely topical regimen, but I dunno, that always just feels like a losing battle to me!
But yeah I know it's tough, and unpleasant. If it happened reasonably suddenly like me, then maybe it is worth examining things like thyroid, DHT levels etc. Are you stressed? High carb/sugar diet? You may also want to try this:

Re: Need help stopping the shed!
thanks for the reply,
well I don't wanna get back on fix / minox. I had that shed for a long time, my thyroid should be ok as I go for yearly checkups...thyroid tests included and I checked all symptoms of thyroid issues none of them I seem to have...
I wanted to know to stop it using natural stuff if possible. I also don't like topicals so much..
whats the IH regimen? is it effective?

Re: Need help stopping the shed!
You should, at the very least, go to your local nutrition shop or online (iHerb, Vitacost), and buy some curcumin and resveratrol (Jarrow, Country Life): an inexpensive way to control scalp inflammation. Then I would add the following vitamins and mineral: vitamin C, vitamin D3, vitamin E (tocotrienols), and magnesium. Lastly, MSM should help with the thickness and texture of your hair.
They have helped my hair loss condition tremendously. And I would be really surprised if you didn't see a major improvement.

thanks for the reply... what are the dosages you are taking? I am also going to add some EFA's since I am a vegetarian and I dont get a lot of them.
I also heard there is something better than MSM...cant remember the name though...

Re: Need help stopping the shed!
Presently about:
curcumin - 500 mg.
resveratrol (trans) - 200 mg.
vitamin C - 1000 mg.
vitamin D - 1000 mg.
vitamin E (tocotrienols) - 125 mg.
magnesium - 280 mg.
MSM - 2 or 3000 mg.
EFAs were the craze in hair loss forums four or five years ago. But from my readings and experience, one really needs to pay attention to the proper ratio of Omega 6 and Omega 3 fatty acids, or their hair loss condition will worsen.
I used 2:1 and 3:1 (Omega 6: Omega 3), and after some initial success (stabilization of hair loss, slight regrowth) my hair began thinning badly again after three months. I got tired of trying to figure out how many borage oil and fish oil supplements should be taken, so I just stopped using them altogether.

For EFA's, its not for hairloss... but for mysef. since i dont have many other sources of EFA's. I read good stuff about two tablesppons of hemp oil per day mixed with something...and very balanced. Apparently the best source of EFA's

Thanks, I never knew that magnesium can do good for hair... can one be deficient in it?

Everything that we consume affects our hair in some way. Hopefully, you will have a positive experience with the hemp oil.
An excerpt from my readings, THE MIRACLE OF MAGNESIUM by Dr. Hotze:
"The Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) for magnesium is between 350 and 400 milligrams per day, which is just enough to ward off outright deficiency. But for optimal health and for the twenty-two conditions that are triggered by magnesium deficiency, perhaps twice as much magnesium is needed. One of the highest sources of magnesium is kelp, but one tsp. only has about 30 milligrams. One tablespoon of almonds has 33 milligrams. Because we probably don’t get nearly enough magnesium from out diet we have to investigate magnesium supplements .".

I have found that topical kefir decreases shedding in a great manner.

Yes, right away. The first application I got up to 10 hairs in my hand while massaging it in. The next day less, and so on. I saw less hairshed after showering when starting kefir. I used it every day for 2 weeks, now, a couple of times a week. Others on this forum have reported similiar experiences.

Re: Need help stopping the shed!
I used store bought organic kefir. It has been stated here on the forum that a home-made kefir would be superior to the store-bought. It has also been stated(dont know if it is true or not), that kefir will not regrow hair, only stop aggressive fall out, or shedding.
