Type of diet for diabetes recovery
This study is from 1936 but it is very interesting concerning what type of diet is better for recovery of diabetes. They took 14 people with diabetes and split them into two groups, one of the groups was diabetic but insulin-sensitive, the other group was diabetic but insulin-resistant. They noted the difference in the two groups:
Diabetic and insulin-sensitive:
-Thin body type
-Younger
-Low blood pressure
-Tendency to develop acidosis and coma
Diabetic and insulin-resistant
-Obese body type
-Older
-High blood pressure
When they studied which diet was better for bettering their insulin sensitivity, the study found that a low-carb diet was better for the insulin-sensitive group, and a high-carb diet was better for the insulin-resistant group.
Personally, I fit the diabetic and insulin sensitive group in their symptoms. I'm thin and can't gain weight, last time I checked my blood pressure it was very low (100/57), i'm 25 years old, and I think ACIDOSIS may be one of my problems, because until I cut down on the meat I was going to the bathroom like 3 times a night. Acidosis could also explain my muscle weakness.
So is there anyone else that is balding at a young age and is thin that has similar symptoms?
What I don't understand is why this study would suggest that someone in the insulin sensitive group with acidosis should eat a low-carb diet? If they have acidosis shouldn't they try and alkalize their diet by eating more plants?

Re: Type of diet for diabetes recovery
Oh and I suppose in 1936 they didn't have type 1 and type 2 diabetes labels, so today a "insulin sensitive" diabetic would be a type 1, and a "insulin resistant" diabetic would be a type 2.
So I guess I have type 1 diabetes, oh no!!

Espio, this is a sign of an enlarged-prostate also known as BPH; one of the "big-three" diseases associated with MPB! The meat was likely increasing your free-IGF-1 too much as that was probably stimulating your prostate to enlarge. Also a high-fat diet increases estrogen levels and estrogen is the main culprit behind prostate-enlargement and some speculate baldness too.

I would also like to add Espio, that I myself am very thin and have very small bones. I consider my body to be feminized by the nasty artery-clogging diet I once had. I believe that we are like this due to a number of reasons the first being we are resistant to insulin. Remember that insulin is our friend when working properly and also is a very potent growth promoter, muscles are referred to as "insulin-furnaces", whereas the insulin pushes the glucose and amino-acids into the muscles and bones, making them larger.
I'm sure you and I grew up eating a high-fat/high-sugar meat based American diet, and we can now see and understand the effects it had on our development. The high intake of fat we grew-up eating made use insulin resistant and increased our estrogen levels in a way that stunted our growth and proper development.
