iodine tincture - usable for internal use?

Post  calvicie on Thu May 12, 2011 6:00 am

So what are some alternatives to iodine supplements if you live in a country that doesn’t allow vitamin or supplement imports and doesn’t sell Lugols or similar products? The only related product I have been able to find is an external use only iodine tincture for cuts and scrapes. It contains 25 mg/ml of iodine and 25 mg/ml of potassium iodide. The bottle also comes with the requisite poison labels and warnings about taking internally.

Could this product be substituted? And if so, are there any modifications required before it could be taken internally? thanks

You would think, but unfortunately, the natives don't really plan ahead, but are reactive instead of proactive; thus, no tablets. Any input on internal use of of the tincture?

Never ingest antiseptic iodine, it is poisonous.

couldn't you order your own potassium iodide and iodine and make your own and say it's for lab use or something? I saw a thread here recently with a good link on how
