Re: Iodine Dr Flechas Dr Stan Two Hour Audio Presentation
This is a great interview. I've heard a full hour so far, and ready for the second.
One way to tie the importance of iodine to MPB I think is two-fold:
Iodine deficiency increases the likelihood of polycystic ovarian syndrome, the female equivalent of
androgenic alopecia .
Personally I believe low thyroid and/or subclinical hypothyroidism (lack of iodine) can increase hair loss.
The reason: Less iodine = greater conversion into DHT, more oxidative stress.
I have a relative who I put on iodine about 8 months ago. His gray hair is lessened greatly. It could be
the iodine!

I've thought about going on iodine but I've read that it aggravates acne.
IH - any idea why this might be.
Almost everyting else that's good for hair is good for skin (acne).

scottyc33 - This is a possibility but not expected.
I am now on the 2nd hour and I've learned a few things. I thought I had read everything, but one thing I picked up is that iodine increases hormone sensitivity. Another thing is that iodine inhibits the conversion of histadine to histamine, therefore reducing allergens. Interesting.

I am about to listen to this CS but I have question now that you have listened to it. What does Dr Flechas recommend for Iodine supplementation?

At least in this case study, Bromine Detoxification is stated to be one possible reason for acne - you might want to read up on this.
"...she developed facial and body acne, most likely due to mild bromism..."

There is a lot of discussion at curezone on supporting supplements for Iodine protocol. Selenium and Vit C has been stated to be 2 main supps to be taken in conjunction with Iodine. I have started eating 1-2 Brazil nuts for selenium, and we all have vitamin "C" of our choice at home.

Lund - Thanks that's damn interesting about bromine removal and acne. Is that section towards the first or 2nd half of the interview?

I think so, from what I have read 1-2 nuts a day is all what is being uggested. Brazil nuts is fairly loaded with Fat so keep that under strict control.
There is also a lot of discussion and mention of L-Selenomethionine form of selenium - apparently this is the type that is more effective as well. I have not tried it, but read it constantly being recommended in the Iodine support forum @ curezone

CS I read about the bromine detox in that case study that I linked, I am not sure if it is part of the Audio presentation or not. I have seen the case study linked multiple times on the curezone as well for Bromine detox sysmptoms.
Extra vitamin C and Sea salt (salt loading) have been recommended as supporting protocol to lessen the Bromine detox symptoms.

I would suggest everyone using Iodine to become failiar with this FAQ, just in case you experience any of the symptoms (there might be others, but this is a good starting point):

Re: Iodine Dr Flechas Dr Stan Two Hour Audio Presentation
Interestingly, I have been taking iodine for the last 7 weeks. This past week I started developing mild dull ache at the lower left back - most likely kidneys. This has been reported a lot as a detox sign in the curezone forums.
Noetheless, as it is kidneys, I have to be very careful. I am taking a break from Iodine for now, at least for a week and will go from there. I am drinking parsley tea (2-3 cups a day), doing sea salt and fresh lemon drinks, to clear up the symptoms while taking a break from the iodine supplementation. So far I have no other Iodine detox symptoms
From what I have read, it can take weeks before some of the metals / halides being to dislodge from the tissues - so you must be careful with the protocol in terms of upping the dosage slowly over time. I have always been on the same 15mg dose for the last 7 or so weeks and this symptom just started this week.
Will report back if the symptoms go away with the adjunct protocol of parsley, sea salt pushes, Vitamin C, lemon juice and selneium (brazil nuts).

Hi, on the link Lund provided they spoke about pH in stomach, which has to be "nearly perfect" to absorb the most of the iodine. How to obtain such conditions in your stomach? Anyone knows?.
