Colostrum topically

Post  CausticSymmetry on Mon Sep 12, 2011 10:22 am

Regarding the previous three questions. I don't know. I have heard of anecdotal reports of improved wound healing and better skin.

For hair loss, it is pure speculation. I think the coconut oil method would make the most sense and it has been tried (not necessarily for hair loss) for other skin conditions.

Could they have synergic effects together?

In what cases was the coconut oil topically tried?

About the aloe vera question: in my hometown many 'rural folks' claim aloe vera is great topically for HL.

CS, what do you recommend for best absorption? In whatever form (pills, powder...)

Topically mixed with coconut oil, a powdered form would be more convenient.

If you're asking about oral absorption, colostrum is almost completely absorbed orally, over 98%.

CS,

understood, pure speculation. But let's speculate a little bit more. What do you think, which ratio? How many parts of coconut oil and how many parts of colsotrum?

I'm not sure, although I might try an experiment with this. I have some medium chain triglyceride oil (which comes from coconut oil), and I'll try mixing some of this with some colostrum and find out how it goes. I'm expecting this to be messy. I think I'll try applying it 10 minutes before a shower and see how it goes.

I think if I use a liberal amount of the oil, it should absorb much better.

But one person in the other topic said:
I was looking at the brand that CS linked but every time i did a search about it's benefits i would always get results saying it's bogus because all the key components get broken down by the body before being absorbed.
So it is really absorbed or not?

It's absorbed and that brand does work also. However, I would suggest the other brand to ensure there is everything, because there's no way to be certain how much transitional milk is there versus pure colostrum.

I'm thinking about adding Colostrum powder to coconut oil and aloe vera for a topical. Some questions:

1) Can Colostrum pass through the scalp effectively?
2) What ratios would I need for Coconut, Aloe and Colostrum?
3) Can anyone link me to a good Colostrum powder product on iHerb as I will be placing an order very soon!

I think that Emu Oil would be much better than coconut oil. Not to mention Emu Oil is said to "fatten" the scalp. And that's your goal anyway.

In regards to Colostrum, you need to be blocking dht or have perfectly balanced hormones or your going to get some inflammation and loss, at least that is my experience with it internally(used several times). Think CS had the same reaction internally or found that it negatively impacted his hair. However it is awesome for gut health.

7 months into daily colostrum. It is no doubt supreme for digestion, for I react much better to prior problem foods. Regards to hair? Not sure. I was expecting more dramatic results based on others' testimonials, but I guess IGF has to be a factor in your specific issues. Also tried it topically for a week (yeah just a week), applying it overnight in an olive oil base. It didn't seem to penetrate the scalp much, then again maybe a more absorbing base like emu would help. Hope this is useful.

I would like an answer to my questions, at least the first one. Does Colostrum mixed in Aloe AND/OR Coconut Oil penetrate the scalp? Zix Creator on regrowth forum said it wouldn't....I want to buy Symbiotics Colostrum Plus Powder from iHerb but if this won't work topically, I won't bother ordering it.

The link on the first page Surthrival Colostrum powder has been used with coconut oil and it works topically--that is for skin problems. Whether it works for hair, we will have to find out.

In my opinion liquid colostrum - if available? - is the better option.

That's a bit more expensive than the iHerb one. What are the differences between Surthrival and Symbiotices Colostrum Plus Powder?

Whether one is better than the other I do not know. I have the Symbiotics brand at home and it does work, as far as what it is expected to do (non-hair wise).

Assuming all the growth factors are there, the primary difference is that Symbiotics contains phospholipids. This might be beneficial from a topical standpoint, but I haven't tried it yet to be sure.

I don't know if Colostum would penetrate the scalp though, I think I will just purchase it and see what happens....

and then youve all probably seen that rdkml posted this link to "transfer factor"

rdkml wrote:By the way, with the talk about colostrum, here is a quote.

"Bovine colostrum only increases NK cell activity by 23%, whereas Transfer Factor Plus TriFactor increases NK cell activity by 437%. Even Echinacea only increases NK cell activity by 43%!"

I use liposomal colostrum both internally and externally. Works great. Also silver and silica have very nice external/internal healing properties as well. To lower stress, grounding/earthing is very effective in regulating cortisol.
