Long term sinuses problem
Hey guys,
Since I’ve discovered this site I have been trying to fight hairloss & address my overall health & I’ll admit I am not very well informed to the biological mechanisms of our body’s internal environment & I’ve spent countless hours reading through this forum, gradually improving my knowledge & implementing recommendations one by one, especially dietary issues, but it’s a long road & I’ll get there eventually.
I’m 30 years old & have been suffering from blocked sinuses since my early 20’s. It’s possibly one of the most annoying things ever. At any one time, either one of my sinuses is blocked & as a result of this my sense of smell is very poor & breathing through my nostrils is almost useless as my oxygen intake is greatly reduced. When exercising, this is even more annoying as my breathing is compromised. I’ve tried yoga & breathing exercises to relieve them but not with much success. I’ve also tried massages to unblock them but no luck there either. I'm thinking about getting a medical procedure to unblock them but this scares me a bit. I'm a firm believer in the natural approach.
I know Sinus cavities become blocked when the mucus does not drain as fast as it is produced or the ostium becomes blocked. When the ostium openings get blocked, the mucus is trapped in the sinus cavities causing pressure & congestion.
Weird thing is that my sinuses problems occurred about the same time I began to lose my hair, about 8/9 years ago. I’m just wondering is there a correlation between hair loss & sinuses problems? I know the internal carotid artery carries blood to the upper scalp & this artery passes through the sinuses region. If there was a lot of blockage & pressure in this region, surely blood flow would be impaired & therefore circulation to the upper scalp suffers. Coincidently I suffer from a frontal receding hairline. Anyways that’s just speculation on my part & do not attribute my hair loss to my sinuses issues.
I just wondering has anybody else on this forum suffered similar problems with relation to their sinuses & were they able to correct them? Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Ray

Had both of those issues at exact same time too. Curbed the sinus issue totally through lowering inflammation and eating a very clean diet (ray peat style - fruits, protein, salt etc). If I eat bad foods sometimes it blocks up my nose. I'm sure this is gut-related - do you have IBS-C?
No improvement in hair though.

Flush sinuses fairly regularly with periodic breaks might help. Lots of methods to choose from to suit the user.

Re: Long term sinuses problem
Sinus problems can often be due to fungal infections (not always), however antibiotic 'treatments' are virtually ineffective and make things worse. The answer to fight such problems usually involves vitamin A (not beta carotene), high-dose vitamin C and as ghai018 mentioned a better diet.

Liposomal C is supposed to be a great way to get levels high enough without diarrhea problem of regular high dose C.
Do you have any experience with the Liposomal C?
How long might it take using Vit. A and high dose C with a good diet to reverse fungal overgrowth in sinuses, obviously depending on degree? more days? or weeks? months?

I always have phlegm in my throat that I have to spit randomly throughout the day, its quite annoying, it especially occures in the morning, is this related? My brother and dad have the same problem, and a handful of other ppl I know. I used to think maybe theres an allergen or something in my house, but it doesnt always occur. Same recommendations for stopping it?

i can't find the link for it, but i just bought some colostrum from http://www.marysgarden.com and somewhere on there (i think, or else somewhere else) some guy said he had always one side or the other of his nostrils blocked by sinuses and the colostrum helped to alleviate the problem and he can breathe now. someone else might want to chime in if this is effective or not for this. i have only been on it for 2 days and i do think i can breathe a little better, but i still do have a single blocked nasal passage that isn't open all the way yet. i have had this problem forever as well... i'll post here if it gets any better with colostrum as i continue taking it.

Re: Long term sinuses problem
Thanks a million guys for all of your replies & recommendations. I’m surprised that sinuses’ issues are so widespread.
ghai...
I’m glad you were able to fix yours. I’ve been reading up on RP’s work recently & taking a lot from it. My diet has improved ALOT (still a long way to go). It is hard work! I’ve never been diagnosed with IBS-C but I do suffer from constipation at times. I notice though when I eat fibre this subsides. Did you ever have IBS-C & did your dietary adjustments fix it? I had no idea this could be linked to my sinuses problem. I also have a weak bladder & if I drink liquids excessively, especially tea or coffee I’m in & out of the toilet all night. This is another issue I have to fix.
Hairdecent....
Thanks, but I don’t want to rely on flushing procedures. That’s kinda of a last resort for me. I'm gona high dose vit C & A for 2 weeks first, maybe more depending. If it is fungal, hopefully I can clear the overgrowth out. I'll keep ya posted here.
CS...
Thank you for recommendation. I will increase my vit A & C intake. I will high dose vit C & A short-term. Perhaps for 2 weeks first. & see how that goes.
J987....
Sometimes I get the same phlegm in the mornings. Also get a runny nose randomly, happens alot in college, especially when I’m seated & therefore I have to carry a tissue all the time. Hopefully we both can fix our nuisances.
Sanderson. ..
That’s really interesting, please keep me up to date if you have any progress. that’s essentially breast milk isn’t it? Lol I’ve got this picture in my head now from the movie "me myself and Irene" where Jim carey is breastfeeding from this really hot mom
Seriously though, I would appreciate updates. I'll post here too if I can clear my sinuses.

Re: Long term sinuses problem
Your first post sounds almost exactly like my situation was to the "T".
I spent 2 years trying to figure out why my sinuses were doing this. I changed my diet completely. Tried every rinse and spray combo out there. The only one that did any justice was using a capsaicin spray that was for headaches- but this was just a quick temporary relief. I went as far as to try acupuncture...
Nothing worked and I ended up seeing an ENT. He tried me on a steroid spray for a month which didnt change anything. He then ordered a CT scan where it showed all kinds of blockages all over my sinuses. I ended up having a septoplasty and turbinectomy which was the best thing I could have done. I now wish I hadnt waited so long to see a Dr. Im all about the natural way but sometimes our anatomy has flaws that supplements and diet cant fix.

Re: Long term sinuses problem
Those who have an active long-term inflammation in their body may possibly develop a CCSVI issue. One of the symptoms besides neurological is teeth issues, jaw issues like TMJ and sinus issues.
Get a handle on the inflammation (e.g. diet, etc.) and may help with CCSVI issues.
Mold issues being another.
After having the worst sinus issues for decades, mine personally went away by focusing on removing mold.
Others may find benefit through heavy metal chelation such as mercury which will help the body remove mold.

Angstman....
I’m glad you were able to fix yours. I’ve been thinking about going to ENT specialist, if my dietary adjustments & supps don’t work I probably will. I agree, sometimes the body needs help. But firstly I will eliminate the possibility of mold / fungal infection & maintain an improved diet.
Rdkml.....
Thanks for the advice, I’m still surprised how many on this forum had sinuses problems. I definitely do not want to develop a long term CCSVI issue. I know that CCSVI is somehow implicated with MS, this worries me because my older brother was diagnosed with MS last November. I'll keep avoiding inflammatory foods & chelation is next on my list.

Re: Long term sinuses problem
Surprisingly, CCSVI isn't just MS but it was popularized by those in the MS community. Dr. Klinghardt has some good info here.
I've posted a bunch of info in the past on this if you wish to do a search. In short, someone could be walking around with one of the five veins blocked. Another could have 5 out of 5 veins blocked and have severe issues.
In short, there is a connection to CCSVI and MPB IMO but nobody knows how important that connection is and the percentage. It would take years to find out.
There is even a connection to CCSVI and the thyroid but again, nobody knows how important.

I’ve just briefly read some of your previous posts about CCSVI & will definitely take a closer look, I’m beginning to believe there could well be a link between CCSVI & hairloss. I think the same veins that drain the brain also drain the scalp, so if this blood flow / drainage were compromised, maybe anaerobic conditions could exist? & then inflammation could soon follow thereafter. I could be wrong. need to learn more. I stopped smoking tobacco & weed a while back (very tough). This was for my overall health, not just my hair but I’ve Just realised that because nicotine is a vascular constrictor, surely a smoker with possible CCSVI would be in even greater harm!
I’ve also visited Dr Klinghardt’s site (thanks), very interesting stuff, especially about heavy metals. The smoking teeth video is very scary! Tbh I never knew the dangers of amalgam fillings until I discovered this site a few months back.
I’m going to see what If I can learn more about CCSVI & the thyroid.
