Zinc as a topical

Post  NewReg on Tue Mar 24, 2009 4:57 am

I know Zix http://www.advinfoprod.com/hair_loss_treatment_1.htm is an old homemade product, but I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on it. I was putting an all natural sunscreen on my scalp (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide) last summer and it had a positive effect on my hair loss. I didn't have any regrowth, but my stalks thickened and I didn't experience any additional loss while on it. However, does the addition of B-6 help with regrowth?

I noticed that while I used the oxide version of zinc, Zix uses sulfate. What's the optimum form of zinc for transdermal absorption? Zix recommends the pyridoxal form of B-6 over pyridoxine. But I could only find pyridoxine. Also, the "Super Zix" formula uses alcohol for absorption, but I was thinking of something natural like coconut oil...perhaps DMSO. Thoughts?

bump......has anyone experience with topical zinc? Today i bought an zinc oxide cream and will try it together with my violet ray. This book (http://www.arthurleej.com/Violet.pdf) says something about the effectiveness of electrical application of zinc.

it is apparently good at generating vellus hair. you'd need some other growth stim to get them to go terminal. copper peptides, maybe LLLT, oligometric procynadins, etc

Thanks for your answer. What about Zink chloride and Zink sulfate? Are there any forms of Zink that can pass the skin-barrier?

Dadon,

yes, zinc sulfate easily passes the skin barrier, even by itself, even in very dilute concentrations, in water. Also, the original "Zix" formula, which includes zinc sulfate as its only form of zinc, DOES re-grow terminal hair, not just vellous hair. I will post more about this later. This stuff has to be re-visited.

Please share any information you have. I think it might be a "missing link" in most regimes...

Do you know of a good source for oligometric procynadins, perhaps even topical? It's hard to find.
