Lugol's Iodine Solution

Post  youngbalder on Fri Apr 03, 2009 3:35 pm

Hey guys im just curious as to if you guys take the dosage of lugols iodine wednesday and saturday 1 or 2 drops? Or do you take more often in that same day or almost every day? Let me know because it feels that too little of a dosage to have effectiveness. Any feedback will be helpful. afro

youngbalder - Everyday works just fine, no need to space it out, unless you forget.

IH I remember you saying that most people especially us in the USA. I decided to get a Iodine test kit and guess what it says I'm iodine deficient. LOL Now what benefits could I see from a Iodine supplement not including my thyroid because I had that checked and it was fine.

Chapat - i think most of us are in yout case, that is to say low in iodine, no pb with thyroid regarding TSH, T4 or T3.

By the way, where can we buy the iodine test ?
do you personnaly take lugol or iodoral ?

Hey Europe
I wanted to do a test to see if I might actually need to take a iodine supplement because I don't take any. I got the test from VRP.com and its around a 100 dollars and its a spot test then a 24 test.

chapat - Having an optimal level of iodine will do a lot of good. Besides the thyroid which accounts for only 3% iodine stores, most of it goes into muscle and fat.

Sufficient iodine prevents excesses free radical damage. Probably the biggest risk of getting cancer is simply due to insufficient iodine.

Know anyone with a heart arrhythmia? Atrial Fibrillation is extremely common today, yet it would be virtually non-existence if iodine was adequate. Conventional medicine uses barbaric tactics such as a very toxic form of iodine called Amiordorone, or they'll resort to terrible procedures such as cardioversion and cardiac ablation.

Iodine prevents estrogen tendency to divide cells too much (excess proliferation), that is a major mechanism with cancer and hyperplastic tissue (think BPH/enlarged prostate) Most men over the age of 70 are going to have BPH--unless they have enough iodine. Prostate cancer is almost a certainty without iodine if you live long enough.

Iodine removes metals of various kinds. I don't have much to back this up, but this is a great link on iodine:

http://www.scribd.com/doc/1959949/IODINE-Solution-to-Healthproblems

High dose iodine in my experience seems to give libido an extra kick.

It is fairly well established though that iodine helps get rid of excess fluoride and bromide. The former seems to be highly correlated with Alzheimer's.

Since most thyroid tests are not adequate, it's difficult to say if one has low thyroid or not with standard tests. Without reverse T3 (a prominent indicator of heavy metal intoxication), T4, T3 and Barnes Basal temperature besides TSH, it's not conclusive.

In other words, subclinical hypothyroid is very common.

Iodine improves blood sugar metabolism, and it may even reduce Testosterone to DHT conversion (but that is theory for now).

europe - There's no direct connection. It has not been studied unfortunately.

Certainly a low iodine could cause hair loss, such as hypothyroidism, but there isn't enough known yet to go beyond that.

so, lugol as a candida killer is another option to add....

If i conclude hat you say, nthing has been proved yet, but when we analyse the fact, do people taking lugol have a better health hair....
that is mainly the reason we are here, with natural global approch...

The question is : For people (like me) that hasn't got any thyroid problem, i don't know if i can take the risk to take lugol ....even if most of the phd say that the risk is low, but that should be done under medical supervisoring...not alone in our kitchen, which i would do...

Europe - Probably one of the most fascinating things about iodine supplementation to me (optimal dose) is that it is a little known way to engender longer life. Anything that helps protect against DNA oxidative damage is probably going to be good for hair.

If you live close enough to the ocean you may pick up enough iodine just by breathing the air off the coast.

I found this today, it's a bit torrent.

http://btjunkie.org/torrent/Iodine-The-Most-Misunderstood-Nutrient/3952ad34874320d635ff929696349f4cbe07aeb2fe59

It's a lecture by Dr. David Brownstein on iodine.

Use whatever torrent uploading software you like. I use www.vuze.com

chapat - This here is a great link on this kind of information that's been posted before.

http://www.scribd.com/doc/1959949/IODINE-Solution-to-Healthproblems

I'll summarize just the main stuff for risks. Allergy to iodine is quite rare, but if it occurs look for a metallic taste in your tongue.

If Acne results, it apparently is described as brominism, which means you have very high levels of bromine which the iodine is helping to excrete. If this is the case, continue with the iodine, but at lesser amounts until this effect clears, and then go back to higher doses again.

Maybe increasing sweating for about 2-weeks.

IH - I've been on lugols for 5months straight now and ever since i've started i've had a significant drop in libido, its still there just lower then before. When im off it up to a week libido fully returns.

Now before taking lugols my libido was pretty damn high, probably too high(which was quite annoying), so maybe its just balanced out to normacy? Being a young and balding I was most likely borderline hyperthyroid correct? But I've also been fairly intolerent to the cold, not heat. So any ideas?
