Barley Powder, Spirulina, Chlorella, Mushrooms and Proper Food Combining
Hello there IH,
I was wondering if you could give your opinion on taking barley powder and other "green" supplements such as spirulina and chlorella, and even medicinal mushrooms such as shiitake, maitake etc. As you know, these are well known as superfoods and are used for the treatment of a variety of ailments and as tonics for general wellbeing. I'm curious as to why you haven't incorporated them into your own protocol, particularly barley powder. Would it be a good idea to take them and what advantages would they offer to our hair and health?
Also do you have any comments on food combining? I'm new to this concept but people like Sherry Brescia and others swear that it is because of wrong food combinations that we are getting sick - do you see any relevance in this?

Grateful - Proper food combining can really make a huge difference on digestive problems, preventing enzymatic clashes. It can also reduce blood sugar spikes also.
Many people usually get stuck in their dietary habits, so they may not be willing to explore it. Anyway I think it's fascinating stuff.
You might want to check this type of barley out, it is claimed that it is 400 times more nutrient dense than standard barley.

I am pretty big fan of alternating some greens such as Chlorella and Spirulina. They are a rich source of various nutrients and enzymes.

As for the food combining, I need to look into it a bit more. I may soon purchase the program devised by a Sherry Brescia. I have done a bit of food combining during this past week and I have to say that I can certainly feel a difference. I try not to mix starches and proteins and I eat fruit on its own. In fact, until now I've grown up eating either fruit or desert after a meal and always noticed that it didn't feel right. But now I make sure I eat them separately at another time and you really do feel the positive effect. Basically, you can eat what you want but the trick is not to eat certain foods with other certain foods.
I will start this food combining program and will keep you informed as how I go. I do have a feeling though, that proper food combination may be the essence of prefect health.

I really don't know too much about food combining yet but I suggest you google a person called Sherry Brescia. Apparently, she's the expert on this. What I've read about her program and the accompanying testimonials make a lot of sense.

Yes... barley powder is extremely beneficial. Not only does it boost oxygen levels in the blood, but it also can increase energy, mood, and decrease signs of aging. I've been using it for 15+ years and def recommend it. You might want to check out http://www.barleysupplements.com/ for guidelines on choosing a good barley powder.
As for food combining... it is also very important. if you want, you can test the importance of it yourself:
eat a heavy meal such as steak and potatoes. Then, eat a bunch of cantaloupe. For most people, they will feel an upset stomach.
The reason? the stomach has to be at a very low pH to digest steak but a very different pH to digest melon. So, by combining the two, you cause your stomach to become confused, thus leading to indigestion.

Combining SuperFoods
Basically it all comes down to one word - SYNERGY!
When you have an eclectic mix of superfoods, not just green ones either, the human body begins to do wonderful things. I could not put it in any simplier terms. I have been using mushroom powders and green superfood powders for 10 years now and when I tell you I have not been sick one day I mean it. Maybe it's the store I buy from - Florida Herb House .
