Chinese Herbs Again
The reason I brought up Chinese herbs is because I was hoping to share some information with others who have knowledge of them as well. Over the last couple of years, I have been experimenting with different types of herbs that have been known (through legend) in Chinese culture to either re grow hair, thicken hair, or nourish the follicle.
I've experimented with topical tinctures mostly. I believe the herbs are more effective that way for hair growth, and strength, and health of follicles. I experimented on myself, my family members who are balding, and a few other people. All men. Nothing too serious. Let's just say that I have not been using the scientific method to the best of my ability. It's been a primitive study.
What I have found is that almost everyone, including myself, is getting these tiny black dots poking just below the surface of the skin all throughout the scalp. The dots look just like a 5 O clock shadow, but are only below the surface of the skin. Amazingly, the dots are growing even very low down the hairline, like where there would have been hair growth at 12 or 13 years old. Sounds exciting right? Wrong!!
Heres the bummer.
By the way, when I use the term dots, I am referring to miniaturized hairs that appear as dots because they are below the skin surface.
1. The dots can only be seen in certain lighting.
2. The dots are best seen under a magnifying glass.
3. The dots rarely punch through the surface of the skin.
4. When the dots do punch through the surface of the skin, they fall out immediately.
5. The dots ONLY punch through the skin when they fall out. They never grow in as mature hairs.
6. The formula has absolutely no effect on the existing hairs on your head. It's almost as though the scalp is attempting to push the old ones out, and grow new ones. The native hairs on the scalp do not become thicker, or stronger, or less gray. Almost to say that the formula only wants to attempt to grow new hairs, and doesn't care about the old ones.
The hairs after falling out, are approximately the length of a ball point, on a pen. They are less than normal thickness, but not like peach fuzz. The hairs are all very dark black, even on older people who are completely gray. And then they fall out.
Another strange thing I noticed, is that when they do fall out, they don't come out with roots. It's almost like the miniature hairs were cut off with a razor.
I read a lot, and connected with a few herbalists in China, through the internet. And with local herbalists in China Town. In New York City. 1 Chinese lady told me that I am really not onto anything new. I'm using an old formula that only works on certain people. I think she's right.
I'm getting burned out from trying to tweek this formula. But part of me feels like I may be on to something good. Another thing I should point out is that most of the people that used the formula, are not the most health conscious people. Their diets are not the greatest. If anyone knows anything about Chinese herbs related to hair, please be in touch. Thanks
Brian
